Frequently asked
Can EOA Books connect to my bank?
No, and that is deliberate. Bank connections require handing your credentials to a third-party aggregator that stores them on its servers. EOA Books has no servers, so it has nowhere to put them. You enter transactions directly, or import a statement file you downloaded from your bank yourself.
Where is my data, and how do I back it up?
Your ledger is a file inside the app's private storage on your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. Open Settings in the app and choose Export full backup (JSON), then save it wherever you keep important files. Do this before changing phones. If you delete the App, iOS deletes your ledger with it, and we have no copy to restore.
What happens to my books if I do not buy Pro?
Nothing. Recording transactions, managing accounts, running reports, and exporting or backing up your data are free and stay free. Your records are never held behind a purchase.
I bought Pro but a new phone shows it locked.
Open Settings in the app and tap Restore purchase, making sure the device is signed in to the same Apple Account used for the original purchase. If it still does not appear, email us.
Why will a transaction not save?
Every transaction must balance: the debits and credits have to be equal. In split mode the editor shows an Out of balance figure at the bottom; when it reads zero, Save becomes available. This is what keeps your books correct.
Does it do my taxes?
No. EOA Books does not calculate, prepare, or file returns and does not give tax advice. It organizes your records and can group them by Schedule C line so that you or your tax professional have clean figures to work from.
How do I request a refund?
Refunds for in-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple, not by us. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple Account.
Is there an iPad or Mac version?
Not currently. EOA Books is built for iPhone, running iOS 17 or later.
Reporting a problem
If you find a bug, a wrong total, or a report that does not reconcile, please tell us. Include the steps that produced it. Correctness issues in a ledger are treated as the highest priority.
